Saif Ali Khan is no longer just a star. As of Monday, the actor has become the official Nawab of Pataudi.
In the presence of his mother, Sharmila, two sisters, Soha and Saba and daughter Sara, Saif was anointed the 10th Nawab of Pataudi in a ceremony at the family's Ibrahim Palace.
The heads of various villages gathered for the ceremony to tie a white turban (pagri) around Saif's head, symbolic of his Nawab title. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present at the ceremony.
Saif's late father, Mansoor Ali Khan, who captained the Indian cricket team at the age of 21, was the last Nawab of Pataudi state. He held the title till 1971, when the central government abolished the princely system.
