Chennai Express (2013) - Hindi Movie Trailer Review

Chennai Express (2013) - Hindi Movie Trailer ReviewChennai Express (2013) - Hindi Movie Trailer Review

Quite aptly, the trailer of this year's most-awaited film, Rohit Shetty's com-action (comedy+action) flick 'Chennai Express', starring Shah Rukh Khan and his dimpled (celluloid) queen Deepika Padukone, opens with a shot of a train pulling into a tunnel.

Then comes the entry of the hero, Rahul, played by SRK, swaggering onto screen, proclaiming that he is 40 (almost admitting his real age! Such a fearless thing to do in the years following his 'Rahul, naam toh suna hoga' teenager phase!) and saying that by this age, everyone's life would have witnessed at least a few twists. He then speaks about the one big twist that changed his life.

Having witnessed a murder of a TC atop the train, Rahul is bound by goons and their ring leader Deepika Padukone to travel with them all the way to Umbergaon, Tamil Nadu, aboard the 'Chennai Express', as Deepika's character Meenamma intones in a typical Tam-Bram accent.

Her father, naturally, is a well-respected man in the village. A, you know, periyathalai. "Teacher," Rahul asks, reverentially. "Illa. Don!"

Chennai ai ai ai ai Chennai Express. The trailer boasts of some song-and-dance sequences to keep the front-benchers happy.

Sample some of the funny lines from the film:

"Chutti manaane nikla tha," Shah Rukh's character laments, "tum ne meri chutti kar di!"

"Hey Meenamma! Meri dictionary mein impossible ka shabd hi nahin hai!" "Accha? Kahaan se kharidi aisi bakwaas dictionary?!"

The film, being a 'Rohit Shetty entertainer' has an adequate dose of the cars being blown up, big white SUV's driving down a seaside road in one line, and tons of action and 'maar-dhaad'. Hero and villains go head-to-head in this zany action/ comedy film, with a mammoth budget and huge stars.

Special mention for Deepika's South Indian look in the film, along with her hilarious accent, which is sure to have the audiences rolling in splits. Shah Rukh Khan brings the necessary charm and wit to the proceedings, while the Rohit Shetty stamp is clearly visible as far as the heavy-duty action is concerned.

Our verdict? Superhit!!!

Come. Fall In Love. Rohit Shetty Shtyle!
