Spielberg chooses India for his film shoot

The last time Steven Spielberg was in India, it was a whirlwind trip during which he had met the top brass of Indian cinema. He had even conducted a master class on cinema then, with Amitabh Bachchan playing the emcee. Now sources tell us that Spielberg's unit will be in Mumbai from November 24 for the shoot of The Hundred Foot Journey, based on the book of the same name by Richard C Morais.

The film, co-produced by Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, has Om Puri and Helen Mirren in the lead. A large portion of the film, directed by Lasse Hallstrom, has already been shot in France. And, now the makers will move to India. Since Om plays an Indian living in Paris, his portions needed an Indian backdrop. Sources says instead of recreating this in a studio, Spielberg has asked his unit to shoot at real locations in Mumbai. Whether or not, the maverick filmmaker chooses to accompany his production unit is still being kept under wraps.
