Katrina Kaif: We have a mandir at our home
Katrina Kaif has come a long way to become India's most glamourous and sought-after star. She has not just learnt how to speak Hindi, but can today read Devanagari. Her being private can get mistaken for her arrogance, but in reality, she is an extremely sensitive, emotional and caring person. She prides herself on being a director's actor, but she is equally focussed on achieving a healthy balance between her work and personal relationships and life. She is competitive but secure and the one thing she is clear about, is that she will give her 100% to whatever she does. Excerpts from a conversation with her just before she left to launch her wax statue at the Madame Tussauds, London.
I can read Devanagari today. Jackie Shroff taught me many years back. I would learn Hindi everyday for three hours. Those days, 11-12 years back, there were no bound scripts. Directors would come on set with the lines and some like Anees Bazmee would write them in Hindi, so it was very important to know how to read Hindi. And now, I insist that the scripts are given to me in Devanagari so that when I am sitting in my room, I read written Hindi.
It's very important for me, more important for me than for most people. People may not realise it, but I am actually a very sensitive person. So if my director has a disconnect with me or shows disinterest, I can sense it. So I need to connect, otherwise I feel alone and unwanted.
In the initial years Kabir Khan for sure. During the making of New York, he became a good friend. He had a lot of trust in me. Then I connected immensely as a woman with Zoya Akhtar while making Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Working on Fitoor with Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor), I get what he is saying. I know that he will put me up in a new and interesting way, but what is nice is that he is also interested in hearing your point of view.
In any profession, you go through different phases. At some point you are focusing on one aspect, while at other times you are focusing on other aspects. This is a little bit of another phase for me right now, in the sense the kind of films I have chosen this year, is slightly different. I purposely chose them that way. Like, may be two years back, I may not have done a film like Fitoor. But the moment I knew that Gattu was writing his script, it was something I wanted to be a part of. I have been wanting to work with dada's vision (Anurag Basu) for the longest time, but was waiting for the right film and then Jagga Jasoos happened.
Very, but it's complicated. It depends on the phase you are in your life. When I started, you are running behind your vision with your heart and mind. When you have achieved a part of that vision, then you get a sense of calmness and then, when you see someone else doing well in the space that used to be your target, you are okay with it as you have achieved that target already. Now my goals have to be different and cannot be the same that they were three years ago. And I see them changing on their own organically and naturally. I am a lot calmer. And that does not mean that your focus or drive is any less, but it just means that you are working on two films as against three, that you are balancing other aspects of your life and people in your life, that you are taking a lot of satisfaction from that as well. Also the different types of work you do. There was a time when I wanted to do as much as I could in the dancing and glamour space. But I think I achieved a lot in that. That does not mean that I don't want to do something new in that or a new film on dance, but now I also want to elaborate on other aspects of my persona in my films. To do characters that can show a different aspect of your personality, maybe the more serious, confused, layered, complex and anxious side of you, something every woman can connect with.
Nobody is 100% secure. But yes, I do feel secure now. Everyone goes through moments of insecurity, be it about your work or people in your life or about your family. Everyone goes through that, but at some point in time, you have to try and get yourself on the road and find peace with yourself. And I feel life does it for you. What life will give you is some amazing moments and at other times, will give you things you really don't expect. You need to experience your lows at times. Then when the high comes back, which it always does, you feel so much higher and better. Different strokes for different folks, but for me, I try and remain happy for the balance that I have in my life.
I am a private person, but am extremely sensitive and very emotional. I am quiet and mind my business. I keep to myself for the most part and the people in my life are the people in my life and they have my dedication, time and support. When I am working, I am 100% professional. I can live a very private life. I do stay away from events or functions or parties. I want to balance the things I do. Very few actors can say that they are arrogant. They are the most uncertain people as everyday you are faced with lesser comings or your weaker side.
I try and manage all aspects of my life well and that is why I don't take on too much at certain times and it may seem that I am staying away. I can take only that much that I can give my full dedication to. I have been much more out there in the past, but life changes and you adapt to the different phases that come in your life.
I am a terrible cook.
I have always been religious. While my father was a Muslim and my mom is a Christian, we have been brought up to practise all faiths. We have a mandir at our home. And while I don't do puja, I do light a jyot sometimes.

Katrina and her beau's dad share hotel
By a stroke of coincidence, Katrina Kaif and Rishi Kapoor, father of Ranbir Kapoor, who is rumoured to be in a relationship with Kat, are staying in the same hotel in Chandigarh these days. Both the actors are in the city on account of their films being shot here. While Rishi is here for Aye Bala Ko Taal Tu with Divya Dutta and Ram Kapoor, Katrina is shooting for Phantom with Saif Ali Khan.
Though we have learnt that Katrina and Ranbir have cemented their relationship even further after their recent holiday in Sri Lanka, we aren't sure if Kat's relationship with her prospective in-laws (if Ranbir and Kat formalise their affair into marriage that is), have changed their attutude towards the actress. While some time back we had heard that both Rishi and Neetu, Ranbir's parents, were not too keen on Ranbir settling down with Katrina, we aren't sure if their relationship have undergone any change since Ranbir-Kat decided to come even closer to each other of late.
According to the insiders in the hotel where Kat and Rishi are staying, while Rishi is still seen around the hotel, having lunch or coffee, there has never been a time he has come face to face with Katrina.

Katrina Kaif: Bikini trouble!
Katrina Kaif's bikini pictures have been floating everywhere in the media. The actress was holidaying with boy friend Ranbir Kapoor when their pictures were leaked and their secret relationship came out in the open!
Katrina was so disturbed with this invasion to her privacy that she sent an open letter to the media that was published in the Bombay Times where by she requested the media to stop prying in her private affairs.
Sources claim that the actress will now think twice before even doing a bikini scene is a film. Now wonder if producers lining up at her door are doing a double take on hearing this news? Your guess is as good as ours. Seriously, we can't understand what all all the hue and cry is about. A bikini on screen or off it, is still only a bikini, right?

Katrina’s dates are wasted
Katrina Kaif is in a dilemma. Having reached the pinnacle of her career, she is not able to greenlight every film that comes her way. And being so choosy can ad up to losing precious time. Sources say that Bollywood's No 1 diva has done less shooting in the last few months than all her contemporaries, because she only wants to do films that will suit her status.
And many a time, Kat has seen her decisions going awry. She apparently quit Aditya Chopra's Gunday because it was reportedly not good enough for her and chose to do Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan. But what Kat proposed, untoward circumstances disposed.
The film has been delayed — firstly because Hrithik was said to be reworking portions of the script and secondly, because of the strife in Kashmir. So, Kat was forced to sit at home and twiddle her thumbs.
She has got one of the biggest films of the year — Dhoom 3. But the unfortunate bit is that since Aamir Khan is shuttling between Raju Hirani's P.K. and Adi's film, some more of her dates were wasted. It is ironical then, that Kat is being prudent about her film choices and yet finds herself unable to decide what to do with all the "free time" forcibly coming her way.

Priyanka Chopra upsets Katrina Kaif!
Priyanka Chopra, who has been selected for Ali Abbas Zafar's movie Gunday, has miffed Katrina Kaif. Katrina Kaif was the first choice for Gundey starring Arjun Kapoor and Ranvir Singh. But the news that Priyanka Chopra was approached first for the movie has made Katrina Kaif angry.
A source told a leading daily, "News of PC bagging the film right under her nose is not true. Katrina loved the script of Gunday, but she had given her dates for the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film Knight And Day with Hrithik Roshan already. And that's why she couldn't do the film."
The source further added, "She wanted to be part of the film. Kat has worked with Ali in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and the two get along very well. She is also a close friend of Arjun (Kapoor), who's in the film. Even though she let go of the film, she hangs out with Ali Abbas and the gang. News of Priyanka being the first choice is not true."
Well, Katrina's loss is Priyanka's gain!

Katrina Kaif to Star in Deshdrohi 2?
Looks like the pranks on Twitter are getting only too obvious. Now, when a self-proclaimed billionaire like KRK says he has signed on Katrina Kaif for his next film, we can only stare at the post in disbelief and realize only too soon that it is an April Fool's joke. KRK's attempt at humour unfortunately falls flat as his Twitter followers were'nt fooled.
The producer, actor and reality show star posted: "Good morning and kiss to Katrina Kaif for accepting my offer of Deshdrohi 2. Now for sure #Deshdrohi2 will be blockbuster. Love u Kat. Muaah." Wait till Katrina hears of this, KRK!

Who is the Next Arundhati?
It's no news that one of the biggest blockbusters in Anushka's career, Kodi Ramakrishna's Arundhati, is being remade in Hindi. But the recent buzz is that Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor are two of the frontrunners to play the author-backed lead in the Hindi remake.
While the film was dubbed into Tamil, a popular production house has bagged the rights to remake the film in Hindi. Now, the house is eager to rope in either Kareena and Katrina to play lead in the film, which is reportedly being directed by Anurag Basu. Earlier, we had reported how Kareena was impressed with Anushka's role in the film and was keen to reprise it in the Hindi version.
Says a source, "The poduction house is in talks with Kat and Kareena, but neither have been finalized for the role. Since Arundhati was a big hit down south, they want to go slow on the remake and make sure it also does well at the BO.

Katrina Kaif Fun with a Gun
The London beauty in her Bollywood duty the tall and lovely Katrina Kaif is having fun with a gun..
The B-town top favourite who has gone for a transformation in the forthcoming YRF release 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' where the girl will be seen her new, sexy, junky avatar... where the pretty lass will be playing guitar and smoking, getting arrested for complaint of nuisance..
Now we come to know the actress had fun with a gun and she didn't mind Imran accidently hurting her on her nose.
One of our close hand from the unit reveals that it all happened during the filming of a funny and quirky scene between Imran and Katrina. Finding something amiss, director Ali Abbas decided to add a gun as a fun and interesting element to the scene but while shooting, Imran accidentally hit the gun on Katrina's nose and her nose started bleeding.
The always supportive Katrina didn't complained at all and continued shooting of course after she took a quick break in order to regain herself.
Quiet sporting indeed, Kats!!

Katrina is hotter than Malaika
Katrina Kaif and Malaika Arora Khan are most enviable item bombs who can set the screen on fire at any given instant of time. They have roared with most popular item number songs in 2010 fighting for top position as the Hottest Item Girls of 2010. It is true that they made many top heroines eye on item songs which give instantaneous money for fewer efforts.
Songs don’t just need lyrics to create a stir. The latka and jhatkas with bump n grinds have become intrinsic to success to top the charts. One of the popular news papers has conducted a survey with 3.43 Lakh voters where majority was clearly for Katrina taking over Malaika.
So, the Hottest Item Number of 2010 is ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ from ‘Tees Maar Khan’ followed by second position for ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ for Malaika in ‘Dabangg’ and then Jacqueline Fernandez for ‘Aapka Kya Hoga’ from ‘Housefull.’
