The distributors of director Mani Ratnam’s Kadal, has asked him to compensate for the heavy losses they have incurred.
On Saturday (Jan 9) about fifty distributors from all over Tamilnadu stood in front of Mani’s Madras Talkies asking for an amicablel solution. A distributor said: “ I took the film for distribution in Salem only for brand Mani Ratnam hoping that it will be a good business proposition. But sadly Kadal has only collected 30 percent of my investment and I have incurred severe losses which he has to refund”
In one area in the state, distributors who put in money to the tune of about 1.4 crores on the film, have got returns of just 22 Lakhs, they claim.
Mani’s Iruvar also failed to sizzle at the box office and at that time, the director had reportedly compensated distributors who had incurred heavy losses in the state.
Now the distributors hope that discussions with Mani Ratnam turn fruitful and a favourable solution evolves out of it”.
